What genres do you teach?
I’d love to work on any genre you’d like! The genres I’ve had the most training in are: classical, opera, jazz, and musical theatre.
What if I’ve never sung before?
That’s okay! It’s so great that you want to explore singing and I’d love to help you find your unique voice.
Where will the lessons be?
My house is located near downtown Port Orchard, WA. If travel is difficult, I may be able to arrange mobile lessons with my electric keyboard. Parents are welcome to attend the lessons with their child.

About Nicole
I have been singing since I was old enough to talk, and music has become both my creative outlet and way I can share the beauty of music with others. I have been taking voice lessons since the age of 10 and performed in choirs from elementary school through college. I was involved in multiple musical theatre productions in high school while also working on my classical voice during lessons. In college, I studied under a professional opera singer who I then was chosen to student teach for. I participated in many music competitions and recitals, as well as 2 operatic performances. During my study abroad in France I had the privilege of learning from a local singer who helped hone my French and opened my eyes to new repertoire.
I currently study under a retired professional opera singer, who has built my confidence and blessed me with her vast knowledge of breathing exercises, classical and jazz techniques, as well as sharpened my pronunciation of French, German, Italian, and Latin. In providing lessons, I want to be able to pass on what I’ve learned from so many talented teachers and build musical confidence in others.
Testimonial from Kristina Jones:
“This is to recommend Nicole Hughes as a proficient teacher of vocal technique. I have known Nicole personally and professionally for more than five years and found her to be an excellent instructor. She has mastered Bel Canto style classical vocal technique and is superb in her ability to pass along to her students the rudiments of posture, breath, resonance, diction, linguistic excellence and very fine theatrical presentation for each genre of vocal music. Please do not hesitate to contact me for further information about Nicole as a voice teacher. She is superb!”
